You’ve made the choice to take the wheel of your life and have full accountability of what happens next. Now, let’s go over the elements within 1612 that will provide you with the tools to make those options limitless.

The 1612 is made up of three primary pillars:

  • Group video calls
  • Discord server
  • Community Connection

The foundation behind this group is rooted in the idea that we have a finite amount of time to accomplish our goals in life. We believe one of the best ways to support this process is through a strong community of individuals who are eager to see you succeed. Your individual pursuit is unique (mindset growth, wellness accountability, to improve your business, etc.) and the stoke of like minded people can be the fuel to push you further than you could ever imagine.

Let’s look at each component with a brief primer on what to expect.

Group video calls

1612 uses Zoom to conduct video calls throughout the week. You will need a Zoom account which you can sign up for here if you don’t already have one. All calls are recorded and posted for you to watch at your convenience, however attending live if possible allows for the chance to interact, ask questions, and provide feedback for others. Calls are not mandatory, you can choose to attend those that interest you. However, the Sunday call lays the framework for the week.

Below is the list of current calls and general overview of what to expect with each, although this is subject to change based on things that come up within the group at any given time.

all calls are eastern standard time

  • Sunday with Matt at 10am - discussion topic for the week is presented and explored, examples include Total Accountability, Changing Perspective, Goal Setting, and Not Taking it Personal. Matt may bring on guests from his orbit as well to speak with the group.
  • Tuesday with Nic at 8pm - focus on building the machine, everything that has to do with optimizing human performance for life & sport. These topics include training, recovery, movement, breathwork, pain & injury, nutrition, etc. The goal is to educate and empower you.
  • Wednesday with Elliott at 8pm - deeper dive into the topic presented on Sunday. This is a roundtable discussion to share specific examples of the ways we are either successful or unsuccessful in these areas and how we can improve. Time is also set aside during this call for group members to share their story and introduce themselves.
  • Thursday with Yohance at 8pm - exploration of journal prompts presented throughout the week that tie into the weekly topic and beyond. The prompts presented ask you to take a look into your why and the way you take the information discussed within 1612 and apply it to your day to day lives. In addition, time is presented for open discussion based on the needs of the week.

 Recordings of calls can be found in the #group-call-recordings Discord channel. These recordings are currently being housed on Facebook in the 1612 group which you will need to request access to in order to view them. A private video hosting site is forthcoming, sit tight.

During calls please utilize the chat within the Zoom window for short thoughts you have throughout the discussion. Although if you have a question, comment, or larger thought to share please utilize the “hand raise” feature. This helps to keep the conversation nice and smooth for all to enjoy and follow.

Discord server

As part of your sign up, you have received an invite to the 1612 Server within Discord. There is both a desktop as well as a mobile app. You will need to make an account which is free. This is the main place for ongoing conversation between group members and updates from Matt and the Coaches. Within the server you will find information about future calls, group meet ups, and an abundance of resources. While your engagement within the app may vary, it operates fundamentally as an incredible communication tool.

Within the Discord server there are different threads of topics that are referred to as channels. Each channel has a designated topic that we try to keep as focused as possible.

Examples of channels include:

  • #share-the-stoke what's happening that you’re pumped about? Let others know.
  • #get-rich-or-die-trying focused on building business/entrepreneurial resources
  • #question-for-the-group a place to ask group members for feedback on a personal/professional challenge
  • #book-club share what you’re reading
  • #the-jukebox share what you’re listening to
  • #1612-after-dark discussions/questions on sex and relationships
  • #weekly-tasks a place for follow up homework assignments from calls

Think of these channels as ongoing conversations. You are able to post, reply, share pictures/videos and engage with group members on a 24/7 basis.

Within Discord there are also Video and Voice channels. You will be able to see what other members are active at any time and can spontaneously hop into one of these channels to shoot shit, ask for feedback, or just touch base via video or voice chat.

This Discord community is one designed to add fuel to your fire through support and it is expected that all members engage with each other in that spirit.

Community Connection

From the beginning of 1612 it became apparent that one of if not the biggest value of bringing together a group of like minded individuals was the organic relationships that occurred amongst group members. While there are a fair amount of structured assignments and tasks from Matt and Coaches, the regular everyday conversations that occur carry as much if not more value.

Take the time to introduce yourself to everyone in Discord. When you see others share their number and ask who’s up for a call that week, take them up on it, they mean it. Part of taking total accountability is leaning into the fact that you now have a community that is committed to having your back. With that being said, you have to be willing to allow them to have it.
